Westpointe Condominiums - Des Moines, WA14-Unit Condominium complex will offer unobstructed views of Puget Sound from the Des Moines Marina.This project broke ground in July 2000, shortly prior to these pictures being taken. Located above the City of Des Moines Marina giving its occupants unobstructed views of Puget Sound. The complex will boast 10 residences on upper levels, 4 ground-level townhome residences with courtyards, a mid-level parking garage off 6th Avenue, elevator, and an innovative water feature that flows through the building from front to back. A public pedestrian stairway will also be constructed on the north side of the property, allowing access down to the marina from 6th Avenue. Pacific Engineering was brought on board to help keep the project on a fast track through the permit process. Having just finished a similar project in Des Moines, we were familiar with the requirements of obtaining approvals for construction in this jurisdiction. We obtained Public Works approval of our engineering plans 8 weeks after design work began. Pacific Engineering worked closely with the Project Architect and the Owner, which resulted in few revisions and approved engineering plans under budget. Work included design drawings for half-street improvements along 6th Avenue, an on-site storm infiltration system, grading from the building to 6th Avenue, temporary erosion, water and sewer connections, and construction details.
